About

Hi, I'm Xing Cihang — I build high-performance networking and systems software, and indie apps for Apple platforms.

My day job is down at the networking and systems layer: writing data planes in C/C++, where what matters is nanoseconds per packet, cache hit rates, and amortising fixed costs. I have worked on userspace packet capture and traffic analysis, host resource monitoring, and a cross-platform network proxy (C++20). Currently going deeper into DPDK, RDMA and LLM inference infrastructure.

On the side I build native apps for Apple platforms. I like taking the small, seemingly simple everyday tools that few people bother to get right, and polishing them into products that feel good and last. I care more about restraint, reliable details and respect for privacy than piling on features.

My apps are privacy-first: data stays on-device or in your own iCloud whenever possible. No ads, no third-party tracking SDKs.

The two tracks look unrelated, but they share one thing — getting the details right. I write about both here: low-level performance work, and the trade-offs behind the apps.
